Maya Katz-Ali is a fourth-year student at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. She grew up in California going to Hebrew Sunday school since she was a in second grade. Once she graduated she proceeded to be a teacher’s assistant at her synagogue as well as at other schools. Maya attended a Jewish Day school for high school and studied Hebrew all four years. After high school she lived in Israel for 6 months working at surrounding schools with children teaching English.
Music was always a theme of her Jewish experience and how she connected religiously as well as culturally to Judaism. Maya feels very passionately about connecting Torah stories to everyday life for all ages and is excited to open this door to many students this coming year. She has also heard stories growing up from her grandmother about World War II and is hoping to convey the importance and the empowerment we can learn from the stories of survivors of a horrible history.
