The SS4JS Education Director provides the vision for the Hebrew School through curriculum design, staffing and development of school-wide programs throughout the year. Catch up on Dori's monthly blog here!
The Director also works with parents to ensure that the needs of the individual students are being met. Dori brings to The Sunday School a love of children combined with years of Jewish education experience. Dori also exhibits a great deal of common sense and understanding about how children develop and learn.
Dori became Education Director in 2004 and provides the vision for the school. She is passionate in making sure that each child receives the education he/she deserves and staffs each classrooms accordingly.
Education and community service have always been an integral part of her life. Dori served on the Brookline School Committee where she was liaison to the Massachusetts Legislature and the Massachusetts Association of School Committees. She has also been on the Brookline Access Television, the Board of Directors for The Israeli Family Stress Initiative, Brookline Town Meeting Member and a PTO president at a Brookline elementary school. In 1999, Dori was selected “Person of the Year” in Brookline for her work with Brookline’s immigrant population.
Dori currently serves on the Interfaith Family of Boston Advisory Committee.
Dori has her Masters Degree from Brandeis University in the Hornstein Program for Jewish Communal Service. She studied at Bar Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israel and has B.A. in History and Middle Eastern Studies.
One of Dori's chief joys are the hundreds and hundreds of children that she has also prepared for their Bnei Mitzvah.
Dori and her husband have raised two boys. One son is a Mental Health Counselor at Walden Behavioral Care in Waltham and the other son is finishing his Phd in clinical psychology in Temple University in Philadephia.
