The Sunday School for Jewish Studies
there are many ways celebrate a life cycle event
B’nei Mitzvah
Although not all Sunday School families choose to have a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, many families do wish to celebrate this life cycle event. The Sunday School for Jewish Studies encourages each family to focus on creating an event reflective of their own customs and personal style. Families are encouraged to meet with our education director to explore means of making the event relevant and significant. For some students, the Bar or Bat Mitzvah ceremony may primarily consist of studying the meaning of a Torah portion, while other students may wish to focus on a community service project. Still other students may focus on learning to chant a complete Haftarah and sections of a Torah portion.
The Sunday School for Jewish Studies owns its own Torah, Ark, prayerbooks and kipot and is associated with rabbis in our community who are eager to meet our families and to officiate at B’nei Mitzvah ceremonies.
